PRIVACY POLICY

booklyp.com

Booklyp is an online lighting store. To run it we need some information about you, mostly the practical kind: where a parcel should go, how to reach you if something is wrong with your order, and how you paid. This page explains what we collect, why we collect it, who sees it and what you can ask us to do with it.

We handle personal data in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

3. WHY WE USE IT AND ON WHAT BASIS

To process and deliver your order, including handing your address to the carrier and to the warehouse that ships your parcel. Legal basis: performance of the agreement with you.

To answer questions, handle complaints, process returns and refunds. Legal basis: performance of the agreement and our legitimate interest in good customer service.

To meet our legal obligations, including keeping order and payment records for the periods Dutch tax law requires. Legal basis: legal obligation.

To keep the website working, secure and reasonably fast, and to prevent fraud and misuse. Legal basis: our legitimate interest.

To send you our newsletter, if you asked for it. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

4. WHO WE SHARE IT WITH

We do not sell your personal data. We never will.

We do share it with the parties we need in order to get your order to you and to keep the shop running:

• Our warehouses in Germany and France, which pick, pack and dispatch your parcel

• Carriers and postal services, which need your name, address and often your phone number or email for delivery notifications

• Our payment provider, which processes your payment

• Our ecommerce platform and hosting provider, which store the website and the order data

• Our email and newsletter provider, if you have subscribed

• Our accountant and, where legally required, the Dutch tax authorities

These parties may only use your data for the purpose we engaged them for. Where required, we have data processing agreements in place with them. If a provider processes data outside the European Economic Area, we make sure an appropriate legal transfer mechanism applies.

5. COOKIES

Our website uses cookies and similar techniques.

Functional cookies are necessary. They remember what is in your basket, keep you logged in and make the checkout work. These are placed without consent because the site cannot function without them.

Analytical cookies help us see which pages people visit and where they get stuck, so we can improve the shop.

Marketing cookies may be used to show you relevant advertising elsewhere and to measure whether our advertising works.

You choose which of the optional categories you allow when you first visit the site, and you can change your choice at any time through the cookie settings on our website. You can also delete or block cookies through your browser, though this may stop parts of the shop from working properly.

6. HOW LONG WE KEEP IT

Order, invoice and payment records: seven years, because Dutch tax law requires it.

Customer service messages: two years after your question was resolved, so we can see the history if you come back to us.

Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.

Website and analytics data: no longer than we need it for the purpose it was collected for.

Account data, if you created an account: until you ask us to delete the account.

7. HOW WE PROTECT IT

Our website uses a secure connection so that data sent between your browser and the shop is encrypted. Access to order data is limited to the people who need it to do their job, and Booklyp is a small operation, so that is a very short list. Our providers are chosen partly on the security they offer.

No system is perfect. If a data breach occurs that is likely to present a risk to you, we will inform you and the Dutch Data Protection Authority as the law requires.

8. YOUR RIGHTS

You can ask us to:

• Show you what personal data we hold about you

• Correct data that is wrong or incomplete

• Delete your data, where we are not legally required to keep it

• Limit how we use your data

• Send you your data in a portable format

• Stop using your data where we rely on legitimate interest

• Withdraw consent you gave earlier, for example for the newsletter

Send your request to support@booklyp.com. We will respond within one month. We may ask you a question or two to confirm that the request really comes from you.

If you are not happy with how we handle it, you can complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, at autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.

9. NEWSLETTER

If you subscribe, we send occasional emails about new arrivals and offers. Every email contains an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes one click. We do not add customers to the newsletter automatically just because they placed an order.

10. CHILDREN

Our shop is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.

11. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this policy when our shop or the law changes. The current version is always the one published on booklyp.com.
